Brandon Knight named 09-10 Gatorade Basketball Player of the Year

Brandon Knight a senior at Pine Crest School, was named the 2009-10 Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

Knight is the first ever student athlete from Florida to repeat the award in any sport, last year he was named 2008-2009 Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year as a junior. Knight joins the likes of Lebron James and Greg Oden as the only other athletes to win the award back to back.

Miami Heat Hall of Famer Alonzo Morning was on hand to present the award to Knight at the Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, FL. "I never knew I was going to be receiving this," Knight said. "When I walked into class today, I thought we had a test. They were shooting a video, but my teacher told me it was for admissions. That all threw me off."

Knight has yet to decide on where he will play college basketball with Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky and Syracuse on his short list. A decision is expected in early February.
